Ideal for K-12 and Higher Education leaders, State Education Agencies, and Workforce Development professionals. 3:00 PM: From Pain Points to Possibilities: A Fireside Chat on Overcoming Challenges Moderator: Liam Pisano, Managing Partner, EduLab Capital Partners Panelists: Amanda Fernandez, CEO and President, Latinos for Education Jacob Fraire, President, ECMC Foundation Joelle Martinez, CEO and President, Latino Leadership Institute Statistically, we are faced with the following fact pattern: (1) nationally, one in four students in K-12 and one in five students in higher education are Latino, 2) the gap in higher education degree attainment between Hispanic (28%) and White, non-hispanic adults (48%) is a significant 20%, and 3) Latinos will account for 78% of net new workers between 2020 and 2030. All of this would indicate we need to do a better job at facilitating degree and outcome pathways for a rapidly growing portion of our workforce as a nation. We are honored to host and learn from three, incredibly accomplished, leaders of national organizations that are each focused on separate portions of the student and employee journey to success. 4:00 PM: Redefining Education: Neuroscience, Entrepreneurship, and 21st Century Skills Presenters: Stephanie Carvajalino, Co-founder, Karen Carvajalino This session delves into transforming education by leveraging neuroscience, essential skills for the 21st century, and entrepreneurship. 3rd Floor - Golden Hill A at the Manchester Hyatt 10:00 AM: Embedding the Talent Needs of Employers into the Classroom to Inspire Latino Students Presenter: Nadia Tellez, CREEED, Choose to Excel Director Latino students will soon make up 1/3 of US students. Investing in their education and skills is crucial. CREEED's Educator Externship connects classroom learning to employer needs. Each summer, teachers spend a week in local companies, then build lesson plans to expose students to in-demand careers. This helps demystify paths to economic prosperity for Latino students. 11:00 AM: Boost Reading Fluency in Just 45 Minutes a Week! Presenters: Denise Abulafia, Chief Learning Officer Nicolas Gatica, Chief Business Officer Learn about Ticmas' educational app, "A leer en vivo," which successfully improved reading fluency and comprehension among vulnerable students in Argentina. This workshop shares insights into the app's gamified approach, success stories, and strategies for effective implementation in diverse educational settings. 3:00 PM: Investing in Tomorrow: The Transformative Power of School Choice Presenters: Jaime Martinez, CEO Dr. Anne Clark is the CEO of the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools This session examines how school choice drives educational excellence and community growth, presenting data on student engagement, academic outcomes, and community impact. Attendees will explore the substantial investments in education, opportunities for EdTech investments, and the transformative impact of school choice on education and community development. Pathways to Proficiency: Supporting LatinX Students in K12 English Learning. Presenters: Kristin Fawaz, Director of Curriculum Kim Fortner, Lead Teacher Chrissy Sibley, Director, Strategic Programs, US K12 Multilingual VIPTeacher's workshop provides an overview of their K12 English Learner Program, designed to support Latinx students. Participants will explore the program's features, benefits, and practical strategies for implementation, engage in collaborative discussions, and experience a live demonstration of the curriculum.
